Biography

I am a Tutorial Fellow in Human Sciences and an Associate Professor in Social Demography in the Department of Sociology. Before joining the University of Oxford, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Demographic Studies in Barcelona and the Population Studies Center at the University of Pennsylvania. I hold a PhD in Demography from the London School of Economics.

Teaching

I lecture and teach tutorials for the Introduction to Demography and the Demography and Population courses on the BA in Human Sciences degree.

Research Interests

My research lies in the areas of demography, sociology, and international development. My latest studies focus on the relationship between social and economic inequality and fertility change, the variation and gender differences in family formation, and the consequences of policy changes for health and families. I am the PI of the ERC Starting Grant project, 鈥淒iverging patterns of reproductive behavior within countries across the globe.鈥 Taking a cross-country comparative perspective and focusing on more than 120 nations鈥攕panning the Global North and South鈥攖his project aims to investigate the patterns, trends, and determinants of growing within-country variation in childbearing age and fertility levels.
